#KnicksEarthWeek Social Media Campaign & Event
I have created a social media campaign and event for the New York Knicks, with a focus on climate change and pollution.
![#KnicksEarthWeek Concept Banner showing the Knicks logo, on a faded grayscale New York City skyline](https://tomcrawford.co/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/banner.jpg)
I chose the Knicks for my example, not only because I’m a Knicks fan, but also because New York is the most densely populated city and the 12th most polluted city in the US.
I started by stripping the colour from the Knicks’ logo.
A life without colour is not one that many of us would like to imagine, much like a life without greenery and nature.
This new logo would be used across all of the Knicks’ social media platforms for the week surrounding Earth Day.

Strategy
- A contest would be held on Twitter to design a special New York Knicks jersey. The jersey would be manufactured by Nike, in collaboration with the Knicks, and would only be available at a special community event.
- The jersey Nike manufacture would be made entirely of recycled fabrics.

- A community event would be held at Rucker Park, New York on Sunday 18th April. The event would revolve around a 3v3 basketball game between legendary New York street ballers and former Knicks legends.
- For each point scored in the game, both the Knicks and Nike would each donate $1,000 to charity. I’ve chosen Clean Air Task Force; a US based charity whose mission is to work towards achieving zero carbon emissions.
- Current Knicks players would attend the event, and the jersey design contest winner would spend the day with them.
- The official New York Knicks Twitter account would live stream the event, with the option for viewers to donate to Clean Air Task Force.
